Chicago Board of Education Budget Vote & Sustainable Community Schools
Background: The Chicago Board of Education has been embroiled in a major budget fight over the best actions to take to close the remaining gap of $740k that is required to pass a balanced budget.
A divided board, administration, unions, city and public have arguments that are important to thoroughly understand in order to Marshall the public's will, resources and creativity to help prioritize the design and creation of sustainable community schools which provide a high quality education for ALL of Chicago's children - including those in neighborhood schools.
The CWTA Education Committee will review and discuss the budget decisions made by in its budget vote that morning .
Regardless of which way the vote went , the attention must now turn to what specific actions , activities or programs might be done by the Board, city, public, philanthropic community and others to actually result in sustainable community schools that benefit all of the youth in a reasonably short time .
Next Meetings : Sustainable Community Schools with high quality content is a topic that the Committee will explore in a series discussion in a number of its next monthly meetings .
