Let's Give Our Input to the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA)
We worked with many partners to establish the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (Commission) and the related set of elected Police District Councils. Now it is time to give them our input–early and often!
Options for providing comments to the Commission and the Councils:
during a meeting in person or on Zoom, sign in and hope to be chosen to speak in the meeting lottery;
at an in person meeting turn in written comment to the staff;
always by email to CommunityCommissionPublicComment@cityofchicago.org, through your district commissioners–again at public meetings, on Zoom, or by email, check each district for details on how to communicate.
The next citywide Commission meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29 at Malcolm X College (1900 W. Jackson). This agenda covers votes about several sets of plans for policing and police monitoring. Please see more details and register at the button below.
At the citywide Commission’s public meeting on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Kennedy- King College, the Commission will continue the discussion about policing activities when immigration enforcement is happening on the ground across the city. The CPD Superintendent, COPA Chief Administrator, and Inspector General are expected to participate in the meeting.
Don’t forget to run for the District Councils and to VOTE for progressive candidates. Starting in August 2026 (this year!!) candidates can start collecting signatures and filing to run. Learn more about how to run.
