May 5th Tax the Rich Phone bank

While prices for food and goods continue to rise, forcing working families to stretch their budgets even thinner, billionaires and big corporations continue to hoard wealth and refuse to pay their fair share. And while H.R. 1 passed by Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans gives billions of dollars in tax breaks to the wealthy – critical services like healthcare, housing, and early childhood education are under threat. On May 5th, can you join us to urge state legislators to tax action to tax the rich?

We need to demand that our legislators here in Illinois fight for a progressive tax system that makes the richest amongst us pay what they owe!  That’s why we're teaming up with the Illinois Revenue Alliance to host a Tax the Rich Phone bank on May 5th at 11:00am. Here’s a closer look at the current progressive revenue proposals:

  • Ending Offshore Tax Havens (HB5318 / SB3486): Require multinational corporations to pay taxes based on their actual economic activity in Illinois—not profits shifted overseas.

  • Billionaire Wealth Tax (HB5215 / SB3376): Ensure the ultra-wealthy pay taxes on massive increases in their wealth, just like working people pay taxes on their income.

  • Digital Advertising Tax (HB4894 / SB3353): Hold Big Tech accountable by taxing the enormous profits they generate from the data of Illinois residents.

  • Protecting Illinois’ Budget (HB5125 / SB3796): Close costly corporate loopholes and prevent state revenue losses tied to federal tax giveaways for the wealthy.

On this call, we will give you all the training you need to be prepared to talk to fellow Illinoisans about fighting for tax justice. Join us as we:

  • Call constituents in key districts

  • Educate them on the progressive revenue proposals to rebuild and refresh Illinois's current system

  • Connect them to their legislators office and urge them to take action
